Therapy Success Story: Dickie W.

success story written on chalkboard with purple wood border

Mr. W. came to Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab in June of 2024, after a fall at home causing him to suffer a broken leg. His initial stay was short due to medical complications, which ended him up back in the hospital for almost a month. Mr. W. returned back to BGNR in July to focus on getting stronger and reported his goal was to “get to walking again to get back home.” When he first came to us, Dickie was non-weight bearing on his right leg making all functional tasks difficult including moving around in bed, getting to the edge of the bed to sit up, standing, and tfs. With a cast on and lack of mobility, it also made it hard for him to complete ADLs of getting dressed, showering, and putting on socks and shoes. Mr. W. stayed with us for about 3 more weeks for intense rehab which allowed him to improve in all of these areas as well as his overall cognitive function to return home with improved memory recall and safety awareness. We are pleased to announce Mr. W. returned home to his spouse in mid-August and is doing well. Congratulations on all your success in therapy Dickie. We are proud of all the hard work you’ve put in while here and hope for continued success with home health therapy at home.
